🏛️ Calling all history and culture lovers! You absolutely cannot miss the Folk Historical Museum of Sitia. Founded in 1975 by the educational and cultural association "Vintsenzos Kornaros", this museum offers an incredible collection of handwoven materials, embroideries, local costumes, furniture, and more. Get ready to be blown away by the beautiful linen tablecloths, cotton handmade pillows, bedcovers, and clothes, as well as the handwoven drapes featuring images of ancient Greek gods like Eros and Aphrodite. The wooden furniture on display is also truly unique, hand-carved with various motifs from Cretan history.
🧵 One of the most fascinating parts of the museum is the complete loom where you can learn about the whole process of weaving and get a glimpse into the everyday lives of the locals in older times. The museum features different rooms with various themes and exhibits, including craftwork done by women and kitchen implements.
