Sitia is a picturesque town situated on the northeastern edge of Crete, built in an amphitheater shape beside the sea in the Gulf of Sitia. It has a population of 9,000 inhabitants and is economically and administratively the center of its own province. Sitia includes an airport and a shipping port with connections to Piraeus (Athens) and the islands of the southeastern Aegean. Sitia is well known for its clean beaches with rich sand, many of which have been awarded the distinction of Blue Flag status. The people of our town are welcoming to visitors and are always ready to celebrate in true Cretan style. In addition, Sitia is famous for its excellent wine. Furthermore, Sitia is home to the UNESCO-listed Sitia Global Geopark, one of only 177 worldwide!
